Pillow, Sheets, pillowcase and blanket - EIU mattresses are Twin XL.
CAP Membership Card & Photo ID
Athletic\gym shoes
Civilian clothes for free time activities
Swiming Suit
Soap, shampoo, toiletries and towel
Notebook and pen/pencil
Water Bottle / Canteen / Hydration Pack
Sunglasses. These must be of conservative nature, per regulations.
Pilot/Student logbook (for power)
Some spending money (small bills/coins for vending machine, snacks, shopping if desired)
SUN BLOCK SPF 15 or higher (Required)
Socks & underwear for the entire week
Shower Shoes are highly recommended
Please use common sense when packing. Weather can range from the low 50’s to the high 90’s.
JFA will provide laundry services for the academy shirt and shorts daily so you will always have a clean academy uniform for the next day.
Academy T-Shirts, shorts, and hat will be issued to each cadet and will be the uniform of the week (academy uniform) for power and glider cadets.
Cadets will not wear flight suits or jump suits at the Johnson Flight Academy.
Balloon cadets will wear ABU’s.
The academy uniform will be worn with gym shoes.
All other grooming standards will be adhered to, per CAPR 39-1.
Power
Cadets will wear the academy uniform
Power Cadets MUST bring TSA Proof of Citizenship documents. NO FLIGHT TRAINING MAY BEGIN UNTIL WE HAVE VERIFIED THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS. JFA must retain a digital copy of these documents following TSA legal record keeping requirements

IF YOU PLAN TO SOLO YOU MUST BRING A CURRENT FAA THIRD CLASS MEDICAL/STUDENT PILOT CERTIFICATE.
It is highly recommended to get a FAA their Class Medical & Student Pilot Certificate if you plan on continuing flight training once you return home or have already received flight training prior to JFA.
There is NO opportunity to obtain a medical while at JFA.
