FAA Medical
This information applies to students in the power section only.
Before you can solo you must have a FAA medical exam. This costs around $100 to $150 and must be done before the academy. You can find your local AME (Aviation Medical Examiner) at https://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/medical_certification/
Students at CAP NFAs are required to have a FAA medical
If you are unsure if you can medically obtain an FAA medical please reach out to the JFA staff prior to scheduling your appointment with the FAA. There are many medications and conditions that may disqualify you from obtaining your medical.
